Established in 2007, Big Room’s mission is to make it easier to make green choices. Our Ecolabel Index Advisory Services help clients deliver on sustainability promises, by working with them to navigate the complex and diverse international ecolabel landscape, create and monitor green purchasing programs, and understand and meet the needs of stakeholders.

We combine a deep understanding of environmental standards with particular expertise in:

• Research, data collection, analysis and reporting
• Bespoke tool and platform development, and
• Multi-stakeholder engagement

Recent projects

• Delivered reports for an intergovernmental organization on the state of sustainable public procurement and product sustainability information tools
• Designed and tested a pilot framework for a major government agency to evaluate ecolabels and environmental standards for purchasing
• Assessed ecolabels against lifecycle attributes for a leading multi-stakeholder initiative
• Advised a US Fortune 100 company on the creation of an internal environmental designation.

Experience

Our Advisory Services are led by Trevor Bowden and Jacob Malthouse, who are experienced in sustainability measurement, communications and analysis. Experts in designing information platforms that facilitate the growth of green markets, they have worked on projects as diverse as green products and certification systems to responsible investment.

Members of the Big Room team have extensive training and experience at the intersection of environmental science, corporate strategy, and public policy. We maintain an extensive network of experts in specific sectors and regions who we call on for technical expertise and insight.
